The Pomegranate Theatre is a delightful Grade II Listed Victorian venue and is Britain’s first Civic Theatre. The recently refurbished theatre now seats up to 590 visitors and has a bar where guests can enjoy a range of snacks and drinks from locally bottled real ales to ice creams.
The venue is available for professional and amateur shows and regularly hosts events including well known comedians, dramas, ballet and musicals. As a fully functional theatre, we have a professional lighting system and stage, as well as an audio visual and PA system.
Backstage there are 8 dressing rooms, including 1 adapted, all with sinks, mirrors and lights, to comfortably accommodate a total of 87 people. There are also shower facilities and a laundry room.
Access is important to us and our team are experienced in delivering signed, captioned, relaxed and audio described performances. An audio description booth with assisting headsets and induction loop are also available for use.
The main entrance and auditorium are accessible from street level and a stair lift serves the main bar area. Adapted toilet facilities and wheelchair user seats are available for visitors.
